Kids News editors in chief from eight countries choose an item about explaining corruption in a creative way: watch the report in the broadcast above (last item about firetrucks). Sulin Passial, chief editor of the Caribbean Kids News has proudly received the price in the form of a South African art piece, on behalf of her team. The Caribbean Kids News broadcasts since September 2009 on six islands in English, Dutch and Papiamento. The editorial team in Curacao responds enthusiastically by sms: ‘We're thrilled. We will immediately make an item about it’.

The annual summit is an important week for the chief editors, regional coordinators and Free Voice staff to improve the policy for the coming years. This year the participants come from Indonesia, Burma, Jordan, Zambia, Mozambique, South Africa, Netherlands Antilles and Aruba, Suriname and Peru. The KNN Award is an exciting competition between kids news programmes, that share their best reports of the past year with their international colleagues. The entries are being judged on journalistic quality and positive impact on young viewers. Participants and a panel of South African media experts cast their vote. This year the Peruvian NAPA ended at the third place and the Mozambican Telejunior got the second prize.
The KNN Dream Team: kids news journalists from Zambia, Mozambique and South Africa will cover the World Cup in June together and share with the network.
The KNN Summit 2010 is being held in Johannesburg, South Africa, also as preparation for the upcoming World Cup. Parallel to the summit, six journalists from Mozambique, Zambia and South Africa are being trained within the ‘Road to 2010’ project. They are the ‘KNN Dream Team’ will cover stories for children during the World Cup. These daily reports will be broadcasted by all KNN members and are also available for all European youth news programmes, united in the ‘European Youth Exchange’. Leaders of the Kids News Network from Indonesia, Burma, Jordan, Zambia, Mozambique, South Africa, Netherlands Antilles and Aruba, Suriname and Peru. During four-day long summit new insights and experiences are exchanged and the long-term is defined. The KNN partners determine their own policies, with the goal to strengthen their own sustainability and that of the network as a whole. This development of strategies is part of the preparation for the two grant applications (Press Freedom 2.0 and Girl Power) that Free Voice submits to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
